The Gran Teatro opened on 8 October 1996 after the renovation of the former Kursaal hall, which originally opened in 1920.

Mistakes to avoid
Do not use the old Calle de la Paz address or unofficial generic opening hours; for visitors, the useful reference is the official box office timetable and current programme. Tipping is not expected for theatre staff or at the ticket desk.

Opening Hours
Box office: Tuesday to Saturday, 10.00–13.30 and 17.00–20.30. Summer hours (15 June to 15 September): Tuesday to Saturday, 9.30–13.30. Closed in August. On performance days, the box office opens one hour before the show.

Check the programme before you go and book tickets in advance if the performance is likely to be popular. Note that many venues in Spain close in the middle of the day, so do not expect all-day box office hours.
