Parque Natural de Oyambre

Oyambre Natural Park is one of the main outdoor areas in western Cantabria. It includes estuaries, salt marshes, beaches, dunes and cliffs, with spots closely tied to San Vicente de la Barquera such as the estuary, Playa de Merón and the area around the Punta de la Silla lighthouse. It’s an excellent choice for walks, coastal views and low-key nature tourism. There is also an interpretation centre at Punta de la Silla lighthouse. For UK, US and Australian visitors, this is best approached as a scenic nature outing rather than a formal attraction: opening hours may matter only for the interpretation centre, while the wider landscape is typically enjoyed in daylight hours. Wear suitable footwear for uneven ground, bring water and windproof layers, and check local conditions before setting out. Tipping is generally not expected for nature visits themselves, though standard local customs apply if you stop at nearby cafés or restaurants.
